Switching Agent for an existing Case
I recently changed an Agent for an existing case. The inception date of the policy was 07-11-2012. The Agent mandated the policy on 01-09-2013. I followed the instructions as per http://help.schemeserve.com/index.php?title=Switching_Agent_for_an_existing_Case. The First Premium now appears on reports for the new Agent and under the Money Tab under their Agency. This is not good for various reasons such as it looks like the new agent paid the First Premium and we gave the new Agent the commission which obviously didn't happen. May I suggest that if an Agent needs to be switched during a policy year that it could be done in the same way we process Adjustments i.e. with an effect date. Therefore for record purposes it could be seen on the system who the Agent was at any given time. When the Adjustment has been created the system should leave all previous transactions on the previous Agents account.

Hi John,
If you change the Agent on the MTA record this will also change the previous years records on that Case so you still have the same basic issue.
To maintain reliable reporting if a case changes Agent it would be better to create a new case record with requote.
If this was a mid term change you could then cancel off the old case and set the first period dates to those for the remainder of the insurance period.
This is the safest way to ensure that all of your reporting stays with the correct Agent

Hi Colin,
I have tried it your way but this has created even more issues.
May I suggest again that if a Policyholder wishes to change Agent the following happens;
1. We process an Adjustment at a zero premium and change the Agent. All data prior to the Adjustment to be kept under the old Agents account. Surely other users have the same problem. I can't be the only one with this issue.
Is is possible for you to make the above happen?

There definitely needs to be a way to change agent during the term of the policy. Agent details should be stored against each part of a case not the overall case number similar to payments. I would expect that if I added an MTA to change the agent it should work as John described..

I would really appreciate if other users would please vote for this even if this is not an issue for you.
Hi Colin,
Do you think this request will ever be considered?
We get a lot of requests to change an Agent and it is taking up a lot of time now creating new policies. We also have a number of Agents who have been bought over by another Agent so now have to set up new policies for every renewal also.
Please reconsider.
