Require table columns to be completed but only when the table is used
It is currently possible to require table columns to be completed. However, this assumes that the table in its entirety is required.
There are cases where a table may not be required at all, but if it is required, and only then, certain fields must be entered.
This is tricky to explain so I shall give you an example:
A scheme that insures a number of different items, is made up of several tables: Item1, Item 2, Item3 ........
IF Item1 is required and a price (for example) is selected in the table, then ALL the other information fields for that table would become required. for example, Name, Date of purchase.......
But if Item1 is not needed none of the filed should be required.
Perhaps the ability to add a Trigger to columns in tables may do it.
This is getting increasingly important for us and there is a particular scheme that cannot really function correctly without it. If there is a way around this I would love to hear any suggestions.
