    This is very much needed by most clients.  Though we need to take it one step further.....

    Most schemes have a Client/Proposer name as well as a Trading As name.  Most of the time brokers are more familiar with the company name than the proposer name.

    I think we need the ability to search by any part of these fields.

    It is also not necessary to start searching as soon text is enetere, perhaps allow the user to enter the full text wanted then hit search.

    Thanks

    The system we use allows us to enter the insureds name in one box and the trading name in another- the search program only alows us to search in the insureds name box - however we are often only given the trading name and waste time going back to obtain insureds name - if we could search for both it would help

    Hi everyone!

    Thanks for the feedback.

    I can confirm we're going to sort this for you.  The plan is to make it so anything you enter in these areas:

    1. Client search box on the Cases tab;
    2. Search box on the Clients tab;
    3. Client box on the New Case window.
    ...will search all the following fields:

    1. Client.Id (exact match)
    2. Client.Postcode (PARTIAL match, e.g. you can enter CB2 rather than CB23 4EY)
    3. Client.ContactName (PARTIAL match, e.g. "Tes" would find results for "Mr Test")
    4. Client.OrganisationName (PARTIAL match, e.g. "mpa" would find results for "International Company Ltd")
    How does that sound?

    Best wishes,

    Adam

    Excellent :)   It's on the list for immediate development so someone will start programming this tomorrow.   If anyone has any other feedback on this or other subjects just let us know.

    Hi Adam

    Thanks for coming back to us so quickly.  Great news that this is being done.

    I HATE to throw a spanner in the works I really do but on all schemes we use:

    Client.CompanyName to get the proposer name; and

    Textbox to get the Trading As name.

    This was done because the Client.ContactName was too restricting so we had to use the Client.CompanyName instead.  Then we needed the Textbox because we cannot have two Client.CompanyNames.

    Is there any chance you can add Textbox to the list else your changes will make no difference to our clients.

    Sorry.

    As Natalie mentions above, we currently store "Company Name" into the Client.CompanyName record and ask a separate question for "Trading as". We do this to allow for one client having several policies such as one company owning 5 pubs all with different trading names.

    It would be useful to be able to search on question fields in addition to client fields although I don't know how feasible this would be.

    I look forward to your comments.

    Best regards,

    Mark

    Ouch, that's a LOT more difficult Natalie.  If the field you want to search is in your questions we wouldn't currently have a mechanism to determine it's relevant to clients only and wouldn't be able to pinpoint that field among all the others.

    We have been discussing recently here at ADM the possibility of a new search box which would search ALL question fields but there's going to be quite a bit of research involved before we can advise when that feature might be available.  The idea would be that you could search all at once, in a single box, your entire site and all data, bringing back results for Cases, Clients, Agents and Claims.  It's been the embryo of an idea for some time but has never made it's way into a feature request.

    I'm sorry there's no quick fix on that one for you Natalie.  I've scheduled the improve Client search in the meantime and we'll keep the new global search in mind for the future.

    Thanks for the additional info Mark.  If you'd like to see what the other users think of the idea please put a separate feature request in and we'll see how many votes it gets.  I've scheduled this change to the Case search by Client in the meantime but am excited that someone else likes the idea of searching everything at once! :)

    Hi guys,

    This is now done!   Over on BETA all searches relates to clients are now improved.   Please take a look at the following video where I take you through the improved searches...

    http://screencast.com/t/wslXw5eh

    The changes you see here will be heading to LABS very soon ready for our imminent Production release of SchemeServe Crimson.

    These areas:

    1. Client search box on the Cases tab;
    2. Search box on the Clients tab;
    3. Client box on the New Case window.
    ...now search all the following fields, in the following ways:

    1. Client.Id (exact match)
    2. Client.Postcode (PARTIAL match, e.g. you can enter CB2 rather than CB23 4EY)
    3. Client.ContactName (PARTIAL match, e.g. "Tes" would find results for "Mr Test")
    4. Client.OrganisationName (PARTIAL match, e.g. "mpa" would find results for "International Company Ltd")
    Best wishes,

    Adam
