Protection against deleting Reports

Good morning all,

We have the problems on some of our site where users are able to delete reports that are being used. 

A simple solution we have thought of would be to add some kind of lock against users deleting a report. Perhaps the restriction of the report creator being the only users able to delete a report or even a password being required. 

Additionally the ability to export report layouts (all column headings and formulas) would provide more security against further problems.

    Great Idea Daniel, This will stop anyone accidentally deleting reports.I like the idea of re-entering your password.

    Exporting the reports would be fantastic, very helpful to have a safer way to store them.

    This is an uncanny coincidence.   There is a new feature in our development (unreleased) version of SchemeServe which does exactly this, and it was passed to me this morning for review prior to testing.

    The way we approached this is that the report creator can choose who is allowed to edit (just as he is allowed to choose who can view), i.e. Just me, Administrators, Everyone or Specific People... so it's very granular.

    I can't give an exact date on release but the prototype is already completed and in testing which means... very soon!

    Will there be separate options for those that can edit and those that can delete?

    No, users that cannot edit will not be allowed to delete.   All users will be able to change the data range from the View Report page, even if they don't have edit rights.
