Emails marked as Spam
FeaturedHi All,
We are seeing a rapid increase in customers telling us that emails are not being recieved from SchemeServe, or that they are ending up in the spam folders, as more and more ISPs beef up their security.
Let me explain why.
We send emails on your behalf, as setup in your account email settings.. for example we will send quotations from an email address quote@mrbroker.com
mrbroker.com is our customer's (your) domain name.
More and more ISPs are now checking the name, mrbroker.com, and comparing it to the IP address of the machine that sent it... that will be us... and because the two dont match, the email is marked as possible spam.
You can check yours by going to the tool at http://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html and entering your own domain name.
So, can't we fix it for you? Short answer is no. The decision is made by the receiving server, not by us... but there are things you can do to make it much better.
The way round this is to tell your ISPs servers that "it's ok, I trust these guys, let them send mail as me". That permission is granted using something called an SPF record.
Dont worry too much about the technicalities here, all you need to do is cut and paste the following message to your ISP or mail provider if its different.. Obviously change the mrbroker.com bit to be your own email domain name ;0)

Hello ISP!
I trust the nice and friendly guys at SchemeServe to send mail on behalf of me. Please can you arrange to add the following SPF record to my mailbox, which is [MRBROKER.COM] at your earliest convenience. Many thanks.
v=spf1 a mx ptr a:smtp.schemeserve.com include:schemeserve.com ~all
"
And your email should start flowing again more easily!
If you are still having problems, then give a shout to our helpdesk - remember those folk are nice and friendly ;-)
